Ready in five minutes

Ever used that phrase??? Today I was. Seriously! Why you ask, or maybe your thinking HOW?

A sock is my answer. No really, a sock...

I haven't gone crazy I promise... Keep reading!

So yesterday on Pinterest I saw something about making cute curls with rags tied in your hair. Fun, I thought but far too much work!

Then last night I found out about Sock Buns curls! I watched a You Tube tutorial, spent five minutes doctoring my sock, and making a pretty sock bun on my head and off to bed I went.

This is my sock..

I made a high ponytail, and then pulled the ends of it through the sock.
I rolled the sock down the pony tail, rolling the hair up into the sock as I went.. When I got the the end I had a cute bum on my head, I grabbed the second sock and secured it.

And them went to bed. This morning I woke up, took it out and found a head full of curls!

Excuse the look but I literally had been out of bed 3 minutes...

Pretty easy and cute, and who doesn't love not having to do anything to their hair in the morning!!!

3 months

Summer time in Iowa is a busy busy thing, in fact it has been 3 months since I last blogged. As I tried to contemplate what those three months looked like I came up blank, but a blank page is never any fun to read, so I turned to my trust Iphone and the Photo's. 123 photos have been taken since Cassie turned 6. While I know some of my blog readers live for photos of lil Brown girls... I won't bore you with 123 of them.. But thanks to my phone I now know what we did!

  • Camryn moved to a Toddler Bed
  • We finsihed out a successful T-ball Season
  • Hit many a splash park
  • Had picnic's and park playdates
  • Visited PrarieMeadows and watched the horse races
  • Hit up Adventureland not once but twice!
  • Went to the Farmers Market
  • Tried to poison some friends with moldy pie from said Farmers Market... SORRY :-(
  • Entertained Anthony's sister Dolly for the weekend of the 4th
  • Took in the Good Guys Car Show
  • Put a pool in the backyard, ie killed a nice circle of grass
  • Bought tons of school supplies and sent Cassie off to First Grade
  • Saw the Iowa Cubs
  • Had more playdates
  • Visited the Iowa State Fair
  • Went to Hawkeye Kids day
  • Started working out and eating right
  • Surprised Cassie with a new 4-wheeler
  • Swam in the pool in all our clothes
  • Took in the first Iowa game
  • Signed Cassie up for Dance
  • Took Camryn to her first few swimming lessons
  • Turned the dead grass circle into our new fire pit area and had a fire night with friends
  • Spent a weekend in Minnesota volunteering for the Liz Logelin Foundation
So yeah, that's why I have't written much! Bring on the fall, chilly nights and warm blankets and hopefully a few more check ins!

6

From a rough start on life born 6 weeks to early, to a girl about to enter the first grade.
The six years we have had you in our lives have been six of the best years ever. You've grown from a very independent baby to a loves to snuggle six year old.
You are kind and compassionate and always putting others first.
You take great care of your baby sister, and stick up for those that you love.
You've not only grown physically this year but your mind has grown by leaps and bounds.
Every age you turn is the one I think it is my favorite. While you were 5 you learned 11 billion things in Kindergarten, and you made some of your first friends from kids in your class. People you will go to school with for the next 18 years! You learned how to read, you can add small numbers in your head. You've worked hard on your speech as well. I am so proud of the girl that you have become and I wait with excitement in my heart to see the girl you will grow to be in the next year!

Play Ball

Cassie is spending another summer playing ball, this year she is playing T-ball and her coach is her daddy, which makes it even more special!

She has a pretty good swing down...We just need to work on running with some speed!

The best part is her two "boy friends" are on her team!

Anthony has a pretty good handle on the team!
 She's ready for the ball!
Tough girl playing first base

Camryn's Second Birthday!

Poor miss Camryn has had a bummer of a winter with 4 stomach flu's, yes 4... One of which popped up the day before the big Mickey Mouse birthday party... about 3 hours after I finished cleaning the house and baking all the cupcakes.... thanks karma!

Camryn was sick for 5 days so we had to cancel her party and reschedule, but we did get a great day for the party. Sunny, warm and filled with friends & family, what could be better!!

I baked cupcakes and attempted to make Mickey Mouse heads out of oreos... Just so you know oreos are really had to separate, scrape clean and cut in half!

Camryn really loved the idea of opening the gifts although she had some trouble staying on track... she wanted to play with it all when she opened it!

All in all it was a great day and I am so thankful we got to shower the little princess with love, It helped with the guilt I felt over cancelling her first party!

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter this year, the girls were so into everything they were involved in and despite the fact that the beginning of Easter weekend totally blew, and by blew I mean our tire on the road to a wedding... We missed the wedding and some of us may have cried all the way home because we wanted to dance with the Broom. We’ve invited the Bride and Broom over for dinner soon so maybe we can re-create that dance! We finally made it home and the Easter Bunny visited so that turned the weekend right around!

Since we didn’t get to show off our pretty dresses we did a little photo shoot downtown!

I hope your Easter was very Hoppy!
